Fifteen feet up on timber pilings, twenty feet above the Gulf, Space Camp is a 2012-built Louisiana camp on Pecan Island — a chenier ridge in the middle of Vermilion Parish's wetlands where the marsh runs flat to the horizon in every direction.
No light pollution. No obstructions. Just water, sky, and the occasional column of fire climbing out of the southern horizon. By day it's duck-hunting, crabbing and shrimping country; by night the deck becomes an observation platform.
Three bedrooms, two baths, an open living plan with high ceilings, a screened porch, and a wraparound deck that faces the action — the whole camp comes fully furnished and mission ready.

When the horizon
lights up
The camp's positioning one-sheet puts the pads roughly 7.5 miles across open water — an unobstructed sightline over flat marsh with zero light pollution in between. This is what the deck was made for.

Everyone up the stairs. The wraparound deck faces the horizon with nothing in the way but marsh.

It was built in 2012 on engineered timber pilings that lift the living space 15 feet, sitting roughly 20 feet above sea level. As with anywhere on the Gulf coast, stays may be adjusted around named storms.
